in this world. Position Summary: Tidewater Youth Services
Commission is seeking a dependable, youth-focused Program Aide (Van
Driver) to support the 2nd Chances Reentry Program. This newly
created, full-time position plays a vital role in the day-to-day
operation of reentry services by providing safe transportation,
logistical support, and hands-on assistance to program staff and
justice-involved youth. The Program Aide will work closely with
Reentry Coordinators and Caseworkers to help ensure youth receive
the services, guidance, and supervision they need as they
reintegrate into the community. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the
primary van driver for the Second Chances Reentry Program,
providing scheduled transportation of youth to and from Bon Air
Juvenile Correctional Center, community placements, court
appointments, and other required destinations. Escort reentry staff
during home visits, community outreach efforts, and field-based
support services. Support the installation and removal of GPS
monitoring equipment on youth under community supervision;
participate in training and follow proper handling and
documentation procedures. Provide general assistance to Reentry
Coordinators and Caseworkers by helping with documentation, filing,
preparing supplies for youth sessions, and participating in group
activities as needed. Build positive, professional relationships
with at-risk youth, always modeling respectful communication,
boundaries, and reliability. Maintain daily transportation logs and
assist with mileage tracking, vehicle upkeep reports, and
coordination of regular van maintenance. Ensure safe, timely, and
confidential transport while adhering to all agency safety
guidelines and transportation protocols. Assist in light
administrative tasks and other operational needs of the Second
Chances program. Represent the program and agency with
professionalism and discretion in all interactions with youth,
families, justice system personnel, and community partners.
Additional Requirements: This position requires regular travel
throughout the Hampton Roads region and occasional trips to
Richmond. Flexibility, patience, and the ability to work with
system-involved youth are essential. Candidates must pass a DMV
driving record and background screening. Other duties not listed in
this description may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the
program. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required;
additional training in Human Services, Youth Development, or
Criminal Justice preferred. Prior experience working with at-risk
or justice-involved youth is strongly preferred. Clean and valid
Virginia drivers license with a strong driving record. Ability to
work independently, follow instructions, and demonstrate good
judgment and maturity. Comfortable using GPS tracking tools,
completing basic reports, and documenting services. Strong
communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to lift up to
25 pounds and maintain physical and mental stamina for long driving
and active support days. Willingness to participate in training
related to youth safety, crisis response, and GPS monitoring.
Schedule: Flexible schedule to meet Programs transportation needs
On-call availability Occasional evenings or weekends depending on
