LOCATION: Rocky Mount, NC

REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER

STATUS: FULL TIME - CAN BE PART REMOTE AND PART IN-OFFICE

Sports Facilities Advisory, LLC ("SFA") is the leading resource for those seeking to plan, fund, manage, and optimize sports, recreation, event and entertainment centers.

The Rocky Mount Event Center is an SFM managed facility in Rocky Mount, NC which is located in the eastern part of the state. The first-class facility is comprised of 165,000 square feet that has the capacity to host the multi-courts tournaments, trade shows, meetings, concerts, and community events. The facility also has a 15,000 square foot family entertainment center that has a variety of interactive games, ropes course, climbing walls, and other family-friendly activities.

The facility provides an atmosphere of community to event organizers, sport's clubs and participants and this position will focus on these principal offerings:

  • Facility rental for large business conferences, meetings, and social events
  • Music Festivals & Concerts
  • Family friendly non-sporting entertainment

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Events Sales Manager will oversee the sales strategy and tactics to secure the facility's corporate, social and entertainment events and programs. The Manager will work closely with the individual leaders of each program as well as other internal departments (Operations, Marketing, etc.) in order to successfully accomplish these responsibilities. This position, the Catering Manager and the Event Sales Coordinator and the General Manager have the primary responsibility for generating event revenue at the Rocky Mount Event Center.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Sales

  • Developing a database of prospective businesses in North Carolina, Virginia and the South East that would have the need for space at a multi-use facility
  • Manage ongoing facility schedule for corporate, social and entertainment events
  • Develop programming to target various markets ranging from corporate, group, adult/youth/family, and special interest groups
  • Develop and manage event and program budgets
  • Maintain an aggressive and measurable outside sales effort, focused intently on the major markets in North Carolina
  • Create and develop sales initiatives and goals for music, family-friendly special events, etc.
  • Generate sales through networking, building relationships, and creating strategic alliances
  • Oversee all aspects of designated programs and special activities
  • Project expected sales volume and profit for existing and new events; analyzing trends and results; establishing pricing strategies; recommending bid and rental prices; monitor in costs, competition, supply, and demand
  • Event development and primary contact for all events before and after they have been contracted
  • Determines annual and gross-profit plans by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for programs; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; analyzing trends and results; establishing pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand
  • Accomplishes objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs, developing sales action plans
  • Identifies marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements; defining market, competitor's share, and competitor's strengths and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted market share
  • Develop and manage a program of hotel rebates and strategic partnerships between hotels and facilities
  • Actively participates in other operational functions as necessary, including but not limited to event setup and execution, attending scheduled events (when required by supervising manager) and meetings, assisting other departments during outside or special events, etc.
  • Attend conferences, trade shows, and other events to interact with business, non-profit and government officials

Operations

  • Set-up events within application software platforms
  • Maintain BEO (banquet event order) paperwork for each booking
  • Work with the marketing team to develop promotional materials
  • On-site director when required for certain events when designated by supervising manager
  • Assist Operations Department with development of logistics plan through integration of event schedule
  • Communicate menu and work with the Banquet Manager on planning for event needs
  • Coordinate & Communicate with the Chef and Banquet Manager on coordination of scheduling and staff planning for events
  • Identify key stakeholders and officials in designated target sales areas, and cultivate and maintain relationships for the benefit of the RMEC
  • Aggressively maintain a regular weekly schedule of outside sales calls in the designated major NC markets (Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro & Charlotte Areas), also targeted on the local regional markets. Maintain consistent email sales initiatives and cold calling where applicable
  • Maintain detailed weekly reporting on all sales initiatives to be submitted to the managing supervisor each week

Marketing/Sponsorship

  • Develop contacts database for prospective corporate and entertainment event holders
  • Assist Marketing Department with development of marketing materials and marketing initiatives
  • Assist Marketing & Sales Department in the development of event marketing plan
  • Develop leads for sponsorships for assigned events
  • Attend conferences, special events and evening dinners and meetings when needed

Other Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM and Operations Software
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Strong communication and organization skills to be able to manage numerous projects at once

WORKING CONDITIONS AND DEMANDS

  • Ability to travel to local and national trade shows, conferences, and key events
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist high
  • Will be required to sit for extended periods of time operating a computer
  • Will be required to conduct venue tours to prospective clients
  • Office environment has intermittent noise, normal in nature
  • Will be required to do a heavy amount of outside sales
  • May be permitted to work part remotely and part in the office

Will be required at times to assist in setup and working certain
