Demonstrated experience or course work in curriculum design and evaluation. Demonstrated experience in program development and grant writing. Demonstrated continuous process improvement skills. Demonstrated experience using multiple methods of technology to facilitate education, including simulation. Demonstrated experience using retention and/or advising models that promote success for a diverse student population.Position DescriptionOne of three academic deans reporting to the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean of Heath Sciences provides leadership for and supervision of curriculum programs and departments for the division of health sciences. Programs in the division include CT/MRI; Health Information Technology; Medical Assisting; Associate Degree Nursing; Medical Office Administration; Office Administration; Ophthalmic Medical Assisting; Practical Nursing; Radiography; Respiratory Care; Surgical Technology; Human Services; and Pre-Health Science Associate in General Education advising.Provide leadership and supervision of health sciences programs and departments. Work with program chairs to develop annual course schedules. Conduct regular divisional meetings to apprise faculty of institutional plans, activities, and expectations. -Encourage and support implementation of teaching activities that promote learning-centered education. -Supervise divisional courses during the day, evenings, and weekends. -Oversee the formulation of instructional objectives and student outcomes within the division, and guide curricular revisions. -Ensure that all programs maintain and meet appropriate accrediting and legal standards. -Monitor recruitment and enrollment strategies within the division. -Monitor the implementation of retention plans by each program. Work with chairs and coordinators to develop best practices that promote increased graduation rates as well as positive outcomes in passing rates on licensure and certification exams. Serve on the Curriculum Review Committee for the college and convene divisional curriculum review committee meetings to evaluate, develop, and revise programs of study. -Develop and provide narratives and supporting documents for grant applications and proposals. Monitor and compile required data for reports to sponsors of grant funding as required. Oversee the planning and ongoing development of simulation strategies across all health science disciplines, including education and training of all divisional faculty and staff, interdisciplinary scenarios, and the integration of simulation into student learning objectives within each program of study. -Work with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to review curriculum programs of study in the division to maintain compliance with SACS-COC. -Work closely with other instructional deans and the VP of Instruction to recommend academic policies to the Board of Trustees and to ensure consistency of enforcement of policies across the three divisions. -Develop and implement long-range divisional programs, plans, goals, and policies. -Ensure adherence to all employee and faculty policies by faculty and staff within the division. -Verify leave requests, monthly leave reports, travel and reimbursement requests, textbook orders, and e-procurement requisitions for the division. -Provide all required paperwork in a timely manner and maintain all divisional records. -Initiate divisional budget requests, approve all budgetary expenditures of the division, and coordinate execution of the approved budget in consultation with the VP of Administrative Services and Controller. Utilize classroom observations, student evaluations, and other feedback to annually evaluate all faculty within the division to maintain a climate of continuous reflection and improvement. -Manage divisional supplies and equipment with efficiency, including maintenance and control of inventory. Represent the college at various events and conferences as called upon by the President or VP of Instruction. -Assist in the hiring process for all full and part-time faculty in the division, and coordinate orientation for all new employees within the division. -Work with program chairs to form and maintain current, active external advisory committees for all programs of study in the division. -Serve on appropriate faculty and administrative committees. -Organize faculty advising and late registration schedules. -Encourage and promote faculty professional development. -Promote the programs of the division as appropriate at various career fairs and community events. -Serve as an advocate for the division and act as a liaison between program and department chairs, faculty, and students. -Teach at least six contact hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. -Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.DISCLAIMERThe above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
