is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in design,
materials, processes and chemistry to join our us in Wilson, North
Carolina! You will participate in the development, modification,
integration, qualification, certification, production and field
support of aircraft fire extinguishing/suppression systems and
components for military and commercial applications. You will work
with existing and new application designs as well as product
improvement, defining design drawings, testing, evaluation and data
packages. Familiarity with pressure vessels, materials, metallurgy,
joining and finish processing, physical, organic, inorganic
chemistry, kinetics or fire science is a plus. Your ability to work
in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary teams as well as independently
with effective communication and attention to detail for timely
project execution is imperative. Join us in the continuous
improvement and development of aircraft fire extinguishers and
suppressors. This is an onsite position based in Wilson, North
Carolina. What you will do: Execute work independently and in
interdisciplinary teams to generate new designs, review internal
and external deviations / change requests, define & support test
and documentation of mechanical hardware and assemblies. Contribute
to the full system life cycle including proposal, development,
qualification, certification, operations and field support. Work
closely with engineering and operations disciplines (e.g., systems
engineering, drafting, test engineering, manufacturing engineering,
quality assurance, logistics, etc.) to align design and testing
with requirements, strategy and manufacturability. Lead and support
root cause and corrective action investigations, with a proven
ability to think forensically. Provide technical guidance and
discernment based on a broad background in mechanical design,
materials & processes, chemistry and fire science. Collaborate in
new technology development for fire extinguishing/suppression
agents and components. Primary contributor to customer reviews and
meetings. Qualifications you must have: Typically requires a degree
in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and
minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in
a related field and minimum 3 years of experience U.S. Citizenship
is required , as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access
information under this program/contract. Robust experience with
technical design and documentation including mechanical assemblies,
weldments, fabrication drawings, assembly and inspection
procedures, installation drawings and GD&T. Technical knowledge
of metal fabrication techniques to include finishing, machined
parts, weldments and pressure vessels. Proficient in discrepancy
analysis and resolution. Qualifications we prefer: Combination of
experience in areas including mechanical design, thermo/fluids,
materials science, metallurgy, finish processes, machining,
welding, brazing, adhesives, chemistry and/or fire science.
Adaptability and organization to support multiple projects
simultaneously. Effective and efficient communication in various
settings: in-person, virtual, email and direct messaging. Ability
to quickly change focus between high level concepts and low-level
details. Self-motivated, receptive, able to organize and complete
assignments on time. A habit of verifying work for accuracy and
completeness prior to submission for review by others. Proficient

86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith
estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers
