We are on the lookout for a dynamic and enthusiastic Diesel Service Technician to join our team in Emporia Virginia. As a Diesel Service Technician at First Response Rail Service, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trucks, trailers and heavy equipment. Your expertise in diesel engines and welding, combined with a strong commitment to safety, will be essential in ensuring our fleet and equipment remains in top condition.

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on trucks, trailers and heavy equipment.
• Conduct welding repairs and fabrications as needed.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Replace tires on trucks and trailers.
• Ability to work on AC Units in vehicles.
• ASE Brake Certification is a plus.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, by having a basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding repair status and recommendations.
• Conducting field visits in case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Anything else that the Operations Manager may ask of youRequirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with diesel engines.
  • At least 1 year of welding experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Competitive Compensation: depends on experience.
