Job Description:
Position Summary This is a part-time fixed-term faculty position
with an initial one-year appointment and the possibility of
renewal. The appointment will begin July 1, 2026 with teaching
responsibilities beginning on the first day of classes, August 17,
2026. Duties will include teaching studio cello to approximately 14
undergraduate music majors, double majors, and minors and leading a
weekly one-hour cello studio class. Additional responsibilities
include attending juries and auditions, possible collaboration in
faculty performances, possible chamber music coaching, and student
mentoring. A secondary interest in another area of music
performance such as improvisation, new music, orchestral studies,
historically informed performance, chamber music, electronic music,
non-classical and/or non-western musical genres, etc., is
preferred. The successful candidate will have professional cello
teaching experience and experience in cello performance at the
highest level, including but not limited to orchestral and chamber
music performance experience, and an M.M. and/or D.M.A, or
commensurate professional experience, in music performance.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience DMA (or
equivalent) in Cello Performance and at least 3 years of
college-level teaching experience.
