Job Description:
Position Summary This position is a 100% remote work
arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill
employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina,
within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty
station. Under the supervision of the Director for Research Core
Development, the Financial Analyst will provide support to the
Office of Sponsored Programs Research Core Development Team. This
support will include administration, maintenance, and enhancement
of iLab billing software; outreach to core facilities; gathering
and analysis of financial data for UNC core facilities; compilation
of equipment and maintenance agreement data; and creation and
enhancement of financial reporting tools. This position will
provide consultation, technical assistance, and other general
support to core facilities utilizing the iLab platform. Support
will be provided to core facilities through a partnership with the
iLab vendor, Agilent, and applicable stakeholders across campus.
This position will work with core facilities and applicable
stakeholders to identify and implement improvements to the iLab
platform. This position will also develop, coordinate, and lead
campus training and information events related to the iLab
platform. This position will gather and examine data related to the
financial performance of core facilities to assess areas of needed
support and improvement across the UNC core facility
infrastructure. This data will contain information pertaining to
the expenses, revenue, and subsidies recorded in UNC’s financial
accounting systems. This position will compile information related
to equipment and assets held by core facilities to maintain central
asset information as well as streamline purchases of equipment
maintenance contracts. This position will assist in maintaining a
central asset repository to improve marketing efforts, help core
facilities make informed purchasing and replacement decisions, and
manage the purchase and renewal of maintenance contracts. This
position will assist with identifying opportunities for greater
efficiency in core management, increasing and improving marketing
of core facility capacity and services, and partnering with key
stakeholders to support and grow core facilities. This includes
developing and coordinating training opportunities in subject areas
related to core facility administration. Required Qualifications,
Competencies, And Experience The selected candidate must
demonstrate the following: * Knowledge of financial systems and
sub-systems (payroll, accounts payable, etc.) * Sound knowledge of
accounting principles * Advanced computer skills and demonstrated
use of Microsoft Excel functions and Word * Strong communication
skills * Ability to analyze financial data from accounting systems
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience * Experience
with accounting systems in a University setting, including, but not
limited to, the iLab platform * Familiarity with procurement and
purchasing activities in a University setting * Experience with
research core facility administration, including purchasing,
financial activity, and billing/Accounts Receivable
